Bearing Gifts

Once again, our pastor and his wife have blessed our evening with their...presence and "presents" too, this time!  Sister Sylvia called me early Thursday  to say they wanted to come up and see my mother again, and that she would bring supper to us! We very much enjoyed our time together. The menu was Turkey Noodle Soup, a layered salad, and Apple Cider.

We had fresh pineapple for dessert!

After the meal, Brother Leslie wanted to bring a Bible to the table while we were all sitting around it, and he began to read in Hebrews chapter 11. David has been learning a large portion of this chapter in his Bible class, and he wanted to read the selected verses instead! Our pastor and his wife had a song on their minds for us to sing out of the hymnal, so we found several books and harmonized together in our dining room/kitchen...

The children weren't intimidated, seems like...

I was reminded of the Christmas carol, WE THREE KINGS and the part about "bearing gifts, we travel afar"...It was quite a jaunt for them to come see us all, and we are humbly grateful for the delicious meal and sweet fellowship that they brought to our home.

"...Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." Matthew 20:26-28, KJV

  1. Do you know how blessed you are to have these wonderful people come visit you? Wish I were only an hour away! Such a sweet picture of you all at the table, and I can just imagine the good food.
